A German man survived a 25ft fall down a lift shaft when he landed on a woman who had fallen down it the day before. The man was unhurt after landing on the 57-year-old woman and managed to free himself. Police said "The woman had been lying unconscious in the shaft for some time already. Although it made her injuries worse it also probably saved her life that he fell on her as it meant he knew she was there and managed to get help." Rescue workers said that without his plunge the woman would have died from internal bleeding.
The man said he slipped as he walked past the lift shaft which had been left open as it was undergoing repairs.
"I live on the top floor and it was quite a nuisance to always climb the stairs," he said. "I saw the door open and I just wanted to check whether somebody was finally working on the elevator.
"I took a closer look inside the shaft as it was pitch black, and must have slipped off the edge somehow."

Handcuffed suspect stole police car
A male suspect who stole a police car and drove off while handcuffed has been re-arrested in suburban Brisbane, Australia.
Mark Nolan, 29, was originally arrested by two police officers in connection with a burglary in Brisbane. Police had handcuffed and placed the man in the back of the unmarked police car then began examining the contents of a bag found in his possession. During that time, he got into the front of the police car and drove off." Nolan was spotted and arrested the next day at a local shopping centre - despite allegedly ramming another police car in a bid to escape.

Woman sues over hospital boobs
A 33 year old German woman is suing doctors after she checked in to have her wrinkles removed - and woke up with a new pair of breasts. Ingrid Bruelling, had the operation in the German city of Kassel.
She wanted to give herself firmer skin and remove the wrinkles after losing 16 stone on a crash diet.
But when she woke up after the operation she found doctors had put two silicone implants into her breasts, increasing their size from a C cup to a D. Doctors said the woman should not complain as the best way to tighten the skin and remove the wrinkles was to make her breasts bigger.
